It is so easy to take what we have granted.  I started the day thrilled about my Saturday.  I remember the date well January 26, 2002.  My husband had decided to take our two boys sledding with some friends and their dad.  Our daughter was at a Bible Quiz Meet and would not be back until after lunch.

I finally had some free time.  Being single for 34 years, I never dreamed how valuable free time could be.  When I married Mike, three kids came with the package.  They lived with us full time.  After 4 years of marriage, I craved alone time.  I was extremely excited, carefully planning every minute of what I was going to do with my priceless time.

After about an hour and a half, I was a little irritated when the phone rang.  Who would dared disturb my precious time?  The voice on the other end of the line would drastically change the next six months of my time.  “Susan, Mike has been hurt pretty bad and you need to get to North Memorial Hospital as soon as possible.”  Time pretty much stood still.  Mike had broken his back in a sledding accident.

Thought for the Week:  God miraculously healed Michael, but it did not happen instantly.  Since that unforgettable day in January, I know five people with the same injury, who cannot walk today.  It is easy to forget the things God has done for us in the past.  We need to have reminders of what God has done in our lives.  We need to tell our children and our children’s children how the power of God has transformed our lives.  I keep a journal of the things God has done for me lest I forget when I face my next raging river.
