Good Intentions

You will all fall away," Jesus told them, "for it is written: 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.' But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee." Peter declared, "Even if all fall away, I will not." "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "today -- yes, tonight -- before the rooster crows twice you yourself will disown me three times." But Peter insisted emphatically, "Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you." And all the others said the same.
Mark 14:27-31
My Dear Child,
When reading Scriptures about people who had weaknesses or sin or rebellion in their lives, do you find yourself immediately thinking that you would never have done that thing or reacted in that way? When you're feeling “spiritual” and above temptation, look out. Most of the Bible's greatest heroes fell into sin of some sort, and they had all started out with good intentions.
No matter what state you find yourself in today, you can learn from this teaching. If you are on a spiritual mountaintop, don't make any proclamations about what you would never do. And if you have fallen into sin, come to me and confess and let me minister grace to you. I am in the restoration business. Look what I did for Peter the morning my Son cooked him breakfast on the seashore. I still had great plans for Peter, and still intended on using him in ministry in a big way. Never think that because of some sin in your past you cannot be used by me. You can…and you will.
Your Loving Father,
God
