Real Satisfaction

Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert of Shur.  For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water.  When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter.  Then the people grumbled against Moses, saying, "What are we to drink?"

Exodus 15:22-24

My Dear Child,
Do you find yourself looking for things in the world to satisfy you only to find that nothing ever does?  When you see something pleasurable at a distance, you begin to desire it.  In your mind you play out all sorts of scenarios of what life will be like with this "thing."  Then when you finally acquire it, it doesn't seem to measure up to your expectations.
The Hebrew children crossed the Red Sea in victory, singing and dancing and praising Me for the great miracle they had just witnessed and experienced.  But three days later it was an entirely different scene.  They had been without water for three long days.  And when they finally saw some, they ran toward it and began drinking, only to find the water was bitter.  They had expectations of their trip to the Promised Land, and danger and thirst and hunger played no part.  Then they began to grumble and complain to Moses, which was actually complaining against me.
When my children set out on their Christian journey expecting to find refreshment coming from the wilderness of the world, they will constantly be disappointed.  I want to remind you today that only in me will you find true and lasting pleasure.  You were created for eternity, and the world is merely the area you are traveling through to get here with me.  So don't try to make your "home" in the dry desert of the world.
And I want to tell you that you will not be disappointed when you finally experience your true home forevermore.  It will be worth it all.

Your Loving Father,
God
