Rock Foundation

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and
puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew
and beat against that house; yet it did not fall,
because it had its foundation on the rock.
Matthew 7:24-25
My Dear Child,
Your life is like a house. Every house is sitting on a foundation of some sort. If it is sitting on a dry, sandy foundation, it will shift with any movement of that sand and will eventually develop cracks and uneven floors. Any severe wind or storm could even blow the house completely off its foundation.
But if a house is built on a firm foundation, it can withstand wind and storms, heat and cold, and will stay firmly planted. There will be no cracks in the walls, and the walking surfaces will remain stable and even.
This is a good picture of what can happen in your life. If you merely read my Word a few times a week and give it no more thought the rest of the time, when the winds and storms of life come your way, you will shift and sway, wavering between worldly wisdom and worry and self-sufficiency.
However, as you will notice in Jesus' teaching, He said that the man who not only hears the Word, but puts it into practice -- ah, he is the man who is constantly firming up his foundation. Winds of adversity can blow, storms of life can come crashing in, but he will not be moved. He has learned to rely on and obey me daily, and has made that trust and obedience a way of life. In that way his faith has been built up to make his foundation strong and firm.
It is never too late to start. Today the sun may be shining, but that is a good day to work on your foundation. Then the next time a storm comes, you will see yourself standing stronger than ever before.
Your Loving Father,
God
