        I don’t know what I was thinking, but then again, that’s a fairly common occurrence in my forty fifth year on the planet. I suppose I was thinking that it would all go smoothly---that I wouldn’t run into anyone I know---that I could make it back in fifteen minutes. Wrong, wrong, wrong…on all three counts.

     Allow me to begin at the beginning. I was born in Brooklyn, New York on October     17, 1957.  I was named Elvira Robina Mannarino and my parents were Albert and Alessandra. We lived on Herkimer Street off Eastern Parkway in the same brownstone where my father grew up with his ten siblings.

You know how the song goes. It’s the same as all the other love songs. What the world needs now. All you need is love. Love will keep us together. Love makes the world go ‘round. Love is always the answer. Sounds wonderful until reality hits.

In a love-starved world, there is only one place where genuine love can be found. Jesus is our well that never runs dry. Jesus will keep us together and its only Jesus that makes the world go 'round'.

I spent Easter weekend in Prison

     They drove off and I teared up. Italians don’t even eat out Easter weekend, let alone visit prisoners. The relatives just didn’t understand.
