Are you like the "walking dead" when it comes to your money?

I confess I use to be a zombie. Not the kind where I was dead and then came back to life by some supernatural power. I was someone who, when it came to spending and credit cards, was just like the walking dead: Marching through the malls, I would buy whatever I “needed,” not thinking about how much things cost and how I was going to pay it all back.

Where would you like to see yourself and your family in 10, 15, or 20 years from now?

I have a passion for volunteering and have spent most of my free time working for organizations that help women in some way. It is my hobby and my calling.  A number of years ago one of my volunteer gigs was being a mentor to a single mother I will call Mary. Mary had applied to a program through the Salvation Army called Project Breakthrough.

Investing like a girl may sound like a derogatory comment about women. For example, if you throw like a girl, it usually means you can’t throw a ball! But it is different for investing. Studies have shown that women have a better temperament for making investments.

How do I know if I am being a good steward in how I spend my money if I don’t know where it is going? So a budget is a perfect solution to the question where is all my money going?
