Are you in the "ready" position for all that God has planned for you? Why not take some time today to think, dream, and plan for what's coming up this year?

I can’t remember a time when I’ve been so excited to welcome a new year. I spent much of New Year’s Day thinking, dreaming and planning for 2012. This is not typical for me. I’m more of a “let’s see what happens” kind of a girl. But, not this year.

Just when I think I've got a pretty good handle on my technology skills I realize that technology and real life don't always jive.

In general, I think I’ve done pretty well moving into the age of technology.  Oh sure, there were a few tears when my now 28-year-old son was in 7th grade and I realized he knew more than I did, but I’ve learned . .

My husband assured me our Christmas tree would look bigger once we got it home. Boy, was he right!

It’s that time of year – the time when we go out in search of the perfect Christmas tree.  We are “real” tree people, though you’ll probably never find me out in the woods looking to cut one down.  I want a real tree; I just don’t want to be cold. This year, we found ourselves at a major garden center with beautifully groomed trees hanging from the ceiling.

Identity Theft or Account Takeover? Either way, I had to laugh. It's what kept me sane.

It started like any other day; get up, shower, apply makeup, etc., but before I was even finished with my morning routine the weirdness started.  As I picked up the ringing phone the caller ID read “ITT Tech.”  Odd, why would a technical college be calling me?  I’m not patient with random phone calls so, when no one responded to my greeting, I hung up.  Fifteen minutes later

A classic Thanksgiving tale, told, and retold, never ceases to be amusing.

Warning: if you are inclined towards being a vegetarian you might want to skip reading this article. Of course, if you do, you’ll miss my grandmother’s classic Thanksgiving story.

Doctors probably have a theory of why men die at an earlier age than women, but I’m pretty sure they don’t know the real reason.

Earlier this year my husband and I were very excited to become grandparents for the first time.  An alert of our new status, however, has apparently made its way to our immune system and is causing all kinds of havoc with our health.  It’s like an alarm went off saying “Oh hey!  They’re old now; let’s see have some fun with them.”

What exactly does it take to feed the birds? It doesn't seem as easy as it used to be.

My husband loves feeding the birds.  It just makes his heart happy.  But, last winter we encountered a bit of an issue with our bird feeder.  It seemed to attract the deer as much as it attracted the birds.  And deer are much more expensive to feed.

Do I really need to stop wearing white on Labor Day? Who comes up with these rules, anyway?

I’m writing this on Labor Day.  Labor Day seems to be the holiday that we all celebrate with no real understanding of why.  But who’s going to complain really?  We love our holidays and if nothing else Labor Day signifies the end of summer; the last weekend at the lake, barbecues with friends, fertilizing the lawn one last time before winter, and gearing up for the school year.&n

Daily advances in the medical field are commonplace . . . but one thing never seems to change.

Just a few weeks ago our first grandchild was born.  She is the most beautiful baby ever, of course, and, as much as I’d LOVE to tell you all about every little move she’s made since she’s been born, I won’t.  Instead, I want to discuss the hospital experience.

If you aren't sleeping anyway, a little entertainment is always appreciated.

Sleeping can be very entertaining. Well, to be honest, I guess this falls under the category of “not sleeping” or “trying to sleep” but still, when a person is in bed, and not sleeping, it’s good to have entertainment. On occasion, my husband is the entertainer.
