"It was just another sermon." Did I really just say that?

“It was just another sermon.”

It seemed that those words lingered in the air forever.  Did I really just say that?  Where did that come from?

Allowing God to Change Your Life By Giving Up The Lead

I was raised in a conservative church denomination. Raising hands or “dancing” was frowned upon as it would draw attention to yourself.  I’m also a very tall girl who took on this persona of never wanting to stick out at anything so I felt very comfortable in this “non-movement” environment.

What "word" would you like to have as your theme for the year 2012?

At the end of 2011, I felt the Lord challenging me to pray for a “word” for this year.  A single word that I could focus on and to use to be my measuring stick for what I say “yes” and “no” to.

The word that came to me is: Release

I love Webster's definition of it:

Are you inviting God into your "process" or saying, "Wait! Don't look...I'm not done yet!"

Wait! “Don’t look…it’s not done yet!”

“No, you can’t listen…I haven’t finished.”

“Thank you, but I will have to wait because I’m not ready yet.”

As a recovering perfectionist,  I can’t tell you the number of times that I have said those words.

So I am a girl that likes her routine! However, most of my life should be titled, “Hurry Up and Be Flexible.” Can you relate?

So I am a girl that likes her routine!  However, most of my life should be titled, “Hurry Up and Be Flexible.”  Can you relate?

What I have found to be true for me in my spiritual and physical life is that planning ahead and making time/space for the important routines will always reap a benefit.

Turning the "have to" tasks into the "get to" opportunities!

It has been 11 years since I caught a break from the lawn mowing duties of our 5 acres of lawn we regularly groomed down at our hobby farm in Waseca, MN.  Since we moved up to our "smaller" country plot just south of St. Stephen we have a mere 2 acres to mow and my husband has taken over those duties.  (Not that I haven't filled in a time or two.)

Do you ever wonder what God's will is for your life? The answer can sneak up on you, are you ready for it?

The coffee shop was packed with people catching up, discussing business, and those focusing intently on their computers.   A low-pitched hum enveloped the room that was warmly interrupted by the espresso “frothing” machine and the sounds of women’s laughter - signifying a lofty brief escape from their busy lives.  Yet I sat at my table-for-two, stunned!&n

Are you ready to wear a one-of-a-kind garment designed specifically for you?

“Who are you wearing tonight?”  It is a question that is often asked to those who are in the spotlight.

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2

The late Spring season brings new growth, celebrations, graduations and the anticipation of summer!  But a friend reminded me that many families are also "prepping" for major milestones like registering for Kindergarten, or High School, and college!  These "good-byes" and "hello's" to new phases of life can cause a lot of anxiety for children and Mom's!

Ready to Lead? Then be faithful in the small things.

As an eighteen year old, I joined Youth With A Mission (YWAM), one of the largest short term mission organizations in the world.   The outreach portion of my Discipleship Training School with YWAM was in The Philippines.    There, we partnered with a local church to serve food in what was called “The Dumps” – literally entire villages built on garbage heaps.  We al
