A few weeks ago, my soon-to-be husband and I embarked on a DIY (Do-it-yourself) project that I thought, quite frankly, would cause some frustration, take a lot of time, and some do-overs. But surprisingly, it was quite easy, relaxing, and even enjoyable with Michael Buble serenading us in the background.
I will admit, I am an avid blog reader, with more than 15 bookmarked on my computer, that I check daily. One recent post I saw was a DIY tufted ottoman made out of an old generic coffee table. I thought, “what a great idea!” That night, I searched high and low on Craigslist for the perfect coffee table that had those oh-so-fabulous legs to show off. Lo and behold, a $25 oval coffee table with amazing curved legs that screamed, “refurbish me!”
After only 6 hours, 2 coats of paint, lots of noise that scared my neighbors, and an unexpected $125 later, we have the most beautiful, shabby chic, seafoam green tufted ottoman. When I was perusing my search engines for a similar piece, I was shocked to find out that these beauties are anywhere from $400-$2600! My hard-earned $125 didn’t seem so much to spend on a one-of-a-kind swoon-worthy addition.
We are pretty proud of our accomplishment and new-found hobby. And have officially have one piece of furniture to take with us into our marriage! Hooray!!!
