“What are mortals that you should think of us,

Mere humans that you should care for us?

You made us only a little lower than God.

You crowned us with glory and honor.

You put us in charge of everything you made,

Giving us authority over all things.”

-Psalm 8.4

Of what importance are we to the Creator of the universe? I mean, just think about it….He has everything He needs. He IS everything He needs! So, why does He need us around? Why did He choose to make us in the first place?

God loves and cares about us so deeply, and He chooses to do so!  It is beyond our understanding the love our God has for us. Psalm 137 says that His thoughts towards us are more than the grains of sand on a seashore. That is serious love.  But not only does He show us His love, He has shared with us His glory and honor. What an extravagant gift.  As if His love weren’t enough. He shares His glory and honor in order that we may carry out His plans and purposes for His kingdom.

Not only does God love us and share His glory and honor with us, but He even dares to put us in charge of this world! But why? Have you ever thought about the amount of power and authority He has given to His children? To those whose hearts are in sync with his? To those who have the same passions and desires and him? Could it be because he needs his people to reach the people ready to be his? Could it be because he wants to first show us our worth so that we can walk through the rest of the world, showing them their worth, in Christ?
