Yesterday morning, as I sat intently listening to my pastor’s sermon, I got side tracked.  Pastor Ron was talking about ways of thinking which cause us problems in our Christian life.  A passage came up in John when Jesus was on the cross and said “It is finished.”  The thought struck me, this was not the end.  Usually when something is finished we think of it as the end, being over, done, completed, accomplished, concluded.  However, I am thankful this was not the end.

If the cross was the end, we missing so much.  We are missing the resurrection life which raised Jesus from the dead on the third day.  We miss the infilling of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost.   It was then the Holy Spirit dropped another thought into my mind.  At the point of salvation, Christ is once again saying it is finished.  Our old life is dead and our new life begins.

Thought for the Week:  I am so thankful the cross was not what Jesus came to accomplish.  Don’t get me wrong; I am thankful for the cross, because without the cross there would not have been a third day resurrection.  Thank God for the resurrection power of Jesus which is living in you.
