Does the workplace ever make you feel like the writer in Lamentations?
Lamentations 3: 52-54 says, “Those who were my enemies without cause hunted me like a bird. They tried to end my life in a pit and threw stones at me; the waters closed over my head, and I thought I was about to perish. “
Oh, your first thought may be that comparing the workplace to such a verse in Lamentations is a gross exaggeration. And you’re right. But, don’t you feel that way some days? I’m not excited to admit that I do. However, some days the dog-eat-dog nature of my workplace threatens to overwhelm me.
Yet, Lamentations also says: “Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him” Lamentations 3: 22-24.
There is sweet relief from the stress of the workplace when we run to God’s Word. One strategy I use when stress mounts is to remind myself of how faithful God has been in every past situation.
It is not easy to wait; yet that is what we are called to do.
“The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him” Lamentations 3:25.
The Lord is faithful when we seek Him in our workplace struggles. There is hope in the Lord. We have to hang on.
I also remind myself that the current challenge shall pass. They always do.
Be encouraged today. God is with you in your workplace struggles. We are all challenged in the current work environments. God is faithful.
