God promises us that He will grant us times of refreshing as His daughters.  Maybe these times will actually involve spa treatments or hot bubble baths, or some other kind of physical relaxation.

I’m not sure what relaxation looks like for you from day to day, but we will all receive opportunities to receive refreshment every single day from the Lord.

Our refreshment comes from spending time with God every single day, and being in His presence is the ultimate refreshing—spiritually, emotionally, and even physically. Over 75% of physical ailments are related to stress and /or fear.  I have been reading a great book by Dr. Caroline Leaf, “Switch on Your Brain”.  It talks about how to take control of your thoughts which affect every area of your life.

I’m not sure what thoughts you struggle with as a woman of God, but I do know we all struggle with some toxic thoughts that God does not desire us to dwell on or entertain.  He wants us to take authority over those destructive thoughts and dwell on His goodness, mercy and truth.

Philippians 4:8 And now, dear sisters, one final thing.  Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.  Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

We don’t have to think about every thought that comes into our minds.  We can choose what we think about.  We can actually rewire our brains.  Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.  It is so common for new mothers to worry, there are so many things you don’t know or feel unsure of.

God wants you to know that He says, “Be still and know that I am God”.  You can rest in Him.  You can do this by meeting with Him every day.  We can be in instant communion with Him by lifting our hearts and minds up to Him, publicly or privately.  God doesn’t demand that we spend hours of time with Him in order to experience refreshment with Him.

We have instant access to Him because He lives in our heart.  We have only to slow down to feel the beat of His lifeblood flowing through us, to breathe deeply of His Holy Spirit, to sing songs of praise that replaces a spirit of heaviness.

So be intentional about your thoughts, wrestle and take captive the toxic ones.  Read God’s word for the blessed and true thoughts He has for us.  He loves us so!
