In the first part we looked at the importance of prayer. The second part really just involves asking questions and finding the answers.
Find Meaning
Start by answering many questions:
Who do you want to impact?
How do you want to impact them?
What kind of person do you want to be?
What kinds of characteristics describe you?
What do you want to accomplish?
What experiences do you want to have?
What legacy do you want to leave?
What have you been hearing from God?
What is your passion for the women you want to touch?
What are the needs of the women in your church?
What are the needs of the women in your community?
What resources do you have?
Who wants to be a part of your team?
I liken this to a doctor appointment. No one walks into a doctor appoint and says tell me what is wrong with me. The Doctor has to take some time to analyze the data. He asks questions and tries to figure out all the symptoms. The same is true here.
In answering these questions, you are helping your group find Purpose. This is the WHY.
Get Aligned
Is your group part of a bigger group? Ask questions of the people leading you.
If my car tires are in alignment, my car drives smoothly down the road. I do not have to control the wheel 100 percent of the time. I can let go of the wheel and the car will go straight for a small amount of time all by itself. However, if the tires are not in alignment, the car will pull to one side of the road or the other almost immediately. There must be perfect alignment to get the long-term desired results.
Where is your ministry?
Are you starting from the beginning?
What is already in place?
Who is in authority over you?
What are they saying?
What is the mission statement of your Church?
What is the purpose of the Church?
What is going on in your community?
What are good things happening in your community you can align with?
What are bad things happening in your community you would like to impact in a good way?
Do not over look the umbrella principle. It may seem old fashioned, but God set it up this way. When we come under the authorities in our lives we please God and circumstances are easier. I did not say perfect, just easier. God has placed authorities in our lives and we need to learn to work under them.
Application Steps to Follow
- Meet with your Sr. Pastor
- Meet with your HR rep
- Go on a fact-finding mission in your community
- Meet with the leaders of your women’s group
- Define the Purpose for your women’s group
- A mission statement flows out of purpose
