Lately I have been spending a large amount of my prayer time just listening.  I have specifically set this time aside to receive direction from God.  I really seek to be lead by the Spirit of God.  In reading through the life of David, I find numerous references where David inquired of the Lord, asking what he should do.

In the past I had a very different philosophy.  God gave me a brain; I should use it to figure out what I should do.  However, the older I get, the more I realize Jesus wants to be involved in every detail of our lives.  He wants a very intimate relationship with us.  Currently, when I come up against a decision, I need to make, I pray Lord show me the decision you want me to make.

Let me tell you this is not easy.  In our fast paced society, it is not always instantaneous.  It can take a huge amount of time.

Thought for the Week:  God does not work on my time.  Yet I find when I am open to hearing from God, when I take time to listen for his voice, He speaks.  The ironic thing is he usually does not speak when I am just sitting and listening for him.  However, I find when I have opened up my spirit to hear from Him, he speaks when I least expect it.

I may be in my car driving, at the sink washing dishes, or doing any number of things, but the point is I have already opened up my spirit to hear from Him and in doing that, when He chooses to speak, I am ready to hear.

How about you? Are you too busy to hear Him when He is trying to speak?  Challenge yourself today to be attentive to His divine interuptions, you will be so glad you did.
