Just as Jesus calls us to nourish our bodies with healthy food and ample water (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), we are to nourish our faith by trusting in God when our circumstances are joyful and when they are not.

Reserve quiet time to listen for God’s direction. Believe through faith that he loves us and has a plan for our lives rather than turning to food as our comfort.

Take a few deep breaths before you eat. Whether you are on the road, at a restaurant, or sitting at home with your children running crazy, pause and give thanks for your health, your body, and your food. When we eat in peace and trust God with our nourishment, we honor him with our bodies.

Next time you eat in peace, be glad that you are nourishing your soul through faith and your body through food. Will you take the challenge to eat in peace to nourish your body in your journey to flourish?

“Jesus replied, ‘Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.’” Matthew 21:21-22
